The Best Bali Stays with Two Under Three: Our Honest Review

In December, we set off on our very first family holiday as a family of four! I had a travel conference hosted at Club Med in Bali, so we decided to turn it into a proper trip, with babies in tow.

This was actually my 14th visit to Bali (I know - wild!), and I can honestly say I’ve experienced this island in nearly every way. My first trip was when I was just seven years old, and I still remember it vividly. Maybe that’s why I’m so passionate about the value of travel from a young age. While I completely acknowledge that travelling is a privilege, I truly believe it offers children a unique perspective and a lifetime of memories. It’s a gift.

But I digress, Bali has been the backdrop to so many different chapters of my life. I’ve visited for work, attended multiple conferences, taken girls’ trips, and celebrated milestones. It was also the first overseas destination we travelled to with Ollie, and now it’s Sienna’s turn! I’ll admit, I was a little nervous about how things would go with two little ones instead of one, but honestly—it was even better than expected.

If you’re one of my clients, you’ll know how particular I am about hotels, so it only feels right that I kick off my first destination blog with three honest reviews of the Bali properties we stayed at this time around.

This trip was based around our little family of four: two adults, a 6-month-old, and a very energetic 2.5-year-old. Here’s where we stayed and how each property stacked up for our version of luxury.

Club Med, Nusa Dua – Suite

This was actually a hard one to write, because I really do love Club Med as a brand and I’ve had amazing experiences at other properties. But in the spirit of transparency (and as always, honesty is part of the job), this particular resort didn’t quite meet the standard I hold Club Med to.

Rating out of 5: ★★★☆☆

Highlights:
The convenience of all-inclusive really shines here. Not having to tally up how many mojitos were going on the bill at check-out meant we could actually relax. I truly believe all-inclusive holidays are a game-changer for anyone experiencing decision fatigue (hi fellow mums ) or just needing to switch off.
Also worth noting: the kids club was amazing. Since I was attending a work event, being able to leave Ollie in safe, engaging care was a huge help.

Negatives:
The rooms really need a little love. Even after upgrading to a Suite, we weren’t overly impressed with the standard—it felt tired and in need of a refurb.

Would we stay again?
Probably not at this particular property, but I would absolutely stay at other Club Meds. The concept is fantastic and I’ve had wonderful experiences elsewhere.

Travel Society Tip:
If you’re planning a longer trip, consider a split stay. End your holiday with a few nights at an all-inclusive resort so you can fully relax with zero worries in your final days.

The Padma, Legian – Family Suite

I’ve been selling the Padma for years, it’s my absolute go-to in Legian for both families and couples wanting that resort feel while still being close to the action. But confession time… I’d never actually stayed there until now!

Rating out of 5: ★★★★½

Highlights:
The staff were phenomenal. The attention to detail blew me away—they knew who we were, remembered our orders, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The buffet breakfast? Easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Massive variety, super fresh, and something for everyone.

Negatives:
They’re minor, but just enough to stop me from giving a full 5 stars. Mainly, the location of our Family Suite, right above the kids' pool. Amazing for convenience, less ideal if you’re hoping for peace and quiet during nap time. (Totally my fault though—I’d likely request a different wing next time.)

Would we stay again?
Absolutely. I’m already looking forward to it!

Travel Society Tip:
Take the time to really explore the resort’s schedule and activities. There’s so much going on and we didn’t make the most of it.

Samaya Villas, Seminyak - One Bedroom Royal Pavilion Villa

Okay, full disclosure—we got engaged here, so I might be a little biased. But honestly? Even without the sentimental glow, this property is something special.

Rating out of 5: ★★★★★

Highlights:
Waking up, opening the villa doors, and having the ocean right there. It was pure magic. The grounds were pristine, the butler service seamless, and the included daily afternoon tea made for one very happy toddler.

Negatives:
The private pool was a dream for relaxing during nap time, but the lack of pool fencing was a real worry with little ones. All doors were lockable, and we only stayed two nights, but I’d definitely recommend arranging a third-party pool fence if you’re travelling with young kids.

Would we stay again?
Yes, but probably as a couple, or in one of the villas located off the beachfront that are a bit more family-friendly.

Travel Society Tip:
They offer complimentary golf buggy transfers around the property and into nearby Seminyak Square. Super handy, especially if you’re visiting in the wet season or travelling with young kids who tire easily.

There’s so much more I could share about each of these properties, and of course - I’m always here if you have any questions or need help finding the right fit for your own Bali escape.
